Tom DeVoe Word Trip

An interesting blog. One year traveling the world with a mentalist. It's way better than that might sound.

Check it out here. He's getting some pretty good press from this, including CNN.

Fnagh!

Looks like Stephen Minch is re-releasing his book Lovcraftian Ceremonies. I have an original copy, but this new one looks to have some extras. Information can be found here. It's old-time, straight-up, monster-raising, freaky goodness! Only 500 copies!

Deer Tick - Easy

I like these guys a lot. Country-ish, Rockabilly-ish, whiskley laden, smokey, garage band.

This I would love to see!

An Observation

Curiouser and curiouser, as Alice said.

Several times over the past couple of days at the Magic Cafe, folks were asking interesting questions. One guy was asking about effects to perform for Halloween. I suggested the Okito doll which is something I've been know to do for trick or treaters. It's a great little piece of magic. Great, says he, can I do it for kids? Well, that brought me up short, to be honest. It's actually a good question. Yes, it can. No, it can't. Both. Neither. It's all about the person doing it, isn't it? Yes, I can and have done it for kids. Yes, I've done it in a way that would be totally inappropriate for kids.

Then, a guy was asking about mentalists being "less scary." Same thing, I think. It's all about you and for whom you're performing. If I want to go heavy, I can. But, I don't have to.

In both cases, I found myself totally unable to give a good answer. Seems to me, they're both questions that can only be answered by the person asking them.

I think.

Food for thought anyway.
